If you are from a country that is not included in the WHO negative list, you can apply to us as a qualified nurse if you have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Diploma in Nursing

  • Registered nurse in your home country

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in nursing

  • Do not have a criminal record in your home country

  • Have good communication skills

  • Have good and strong willpower and motivation to learn the German language

Recognition procedure for Applicants


In the equivalence test or recognition procedure, the competent authority checks the equivalence of your foreign professional qualification. 
For this purpose, your professional qualification is compared with one of the German reference professions.

For the equivalence test, certain documents are required that document the content and duration of the training. Your professional experience as well as further knowledge and skills are taken into account.

Your foreign professional qualification will be recognized as equivalent if there are no significant differences to the German professional qualification.

In the case of regulated professions, further requirements are examined, such as personal suitability or German language skills.

If significant differences are found during the equivalence test, the competent body determines a compensatory measure for regulated professions, which can be used to compensate for the significant differences. 

Possibly an adaptation course or a knowledge test. 
We will inform you about the possibilities of the compensatory measure.
